About SPAN
SPAN is an Incorporated Association, and one of several Neighbourhood Houses in the Darebin area working to provide quality, low-cost educational, social and recreational activities in response to community needs.
SPAN's Mission To provide access to dynamic and innovative resources through community development activities.
How Does SPAN Work? SPAN is 'community-owned' and governed by a Board of Directors comprised of skilled volunteers from the community. The Board of Directors meet regulary to provide direction to SPAN staff and make key policy and planning decisions.
SPAN employs a Manager and an Assistant Manager who work to ensure the smooth running of SPAN's myriad programs and daily operation. The staff at SPAN train and coordinate a dedicated team of volunteers who work in a great range of roles in all aspects of SPAN's operations. SPAN employs a professional bookkeeper to maintain accuracy and transparency in its financial records and operations.
The team at SPAN work hard , enjoy a respectful and tolerant environment, and co-operate to make SPAN a fun, innovative, and productive space.
SPAN honours the Wurundjeri people as the First Nation on the land on which we now meet.
